It is quite a challenge to finish your look with the right amount of accessories. One tip I would like to share with you when it comes to accessories is; less is more. Nothing is worse than walking out the door looking like a Christmas tree! One accessory trend I personally love is stacking up bracelets. Keep your neck and ears simple and get stacking for a wrist full of bracelets. There are so many different types to combine; a cute charm bracelet, vintage items from your grandmother, diamonds, beads, gems, pearls, a fancy designer watch or a cute little friendship bracelet. It is up to you to play with colors and to make the right combination of bracelet styles to create a perfect whole.
Accessories brand Sansay is a perfect solution for fashionistas on a budget who are looking for cute and simple items to finish their look with. Designer Sandy Mahdy creates handmade jewellery as a hobby and came up with the idea to turn that hobby into a business a few years ago. That’s how her accessories brand SanSay was born. The brand consists of bracelets, necklaces, earrings but also other items like bags. I like this brand because of its simplicity. The use of color and the mix of East and Western styles is what attracts my attention. I love the cute pendants and bracelets decorated with natural stones. My favorite pieces of the collections are the bracelets and necklaces decorated with the Hamsa (Khamsa) pendants. This palm shaped symbol is also known in the Middle East as the ‘Hand of Fatima’ and is a sign of protection, power and strength.
Reasonably priced accessories are fun to combine with designer items. I love combining a designer watch with chunky gold, silver (vintage) bracelets. Add a few simple ones for that little bit of color to finish the look.
SanSay has worked together with several Dutch designers and fashion events; either selling jewellery or supplying items for fashion shows. A beautiful example is her contribution to the JEDIDA fashion show. JEDIDA is a fashion clothing label that combines Eastern and Western clothing styles. They design modern dresses decorated with Moroccan embroidery. The Hybrid fashion styles are here to stay and I will be covering many more hybrid fashion designs on The Fashion Orientalist in the future!
