Estée Lauder is one of my favorite makeup brands. I really like their nail polish, the colors are beautiful and the bottles are real collector items, they come in cute square, glass bottles. As you may know I love lipstick. I know a lot of women who can’t leave the house without a touch of lip gloss, I am not like that. For those with full lips, a gloss only makes the lips look bigger, which is why I prefer a lipstick. If you do have thin lips and want to make them look fuller, opt for a shiny lip gloss. A while ago I received this beautiful travel set, including four colors of the Estée Lauder’s golden lipstick collection. I’ve made some swatches for you, hope you like the result.
Lip Tip: make sure you test lip colors on your skin before you purchase a color. I am of mixed race and lipstick colors can change the look of my skin. For example if I wear dark colors like reds, my skin looks a lot more pale and light. Definitely experiment when it comes to makeup and get to know your skin tone and what different colors of makeup do with it. You do not want to look like you are sick and pale or look like a child who tried wearing her mother’s lipstick (clown alert!).
Lip Tip: Use a lip liner that matches your lip color, so you get cleaner lip lines. (I did not use a liner for my swatches).
Note: I did some separate swatches on the inside of my arm to show you the color differences between the lipsticks. My lips are quite pink naturally so when I apply a lip color it might look a lot different than when you apply it, depending on your natural lip color.
Review:
18 Starlit Pink
My favorite from this collection. A candy pink with a glossy shine.
82 Radiance
I am personally not a fan of this one, it has a lip balm/Vaseline look and it is very shiny. I do feel this color would look lovely on girls with darker skin and darker lips, since it brightens the lips, hence the name radiance.
39 Frosted Apricot
Another color perfect for darker skinned girls in my opinion. The sweet orange/apricot color is very much present. This one also has a glossy shine to it. It is a lovely color for spring/summer. If you got that lovely summer tan, the apricot shade really matches.
85 Rosa Rosa
My second favorite. A lovely rosy color. This would do perfect for the lighter skinned girls and those with a light brown skin tone. Darker skinned girls should avoid it as the color might not be as present. It is a very nice color to wear on a day to day basis or to the office. Once again it has that balmy gloss look, like the other colors.
Overall a really nice collection. I hope you can see the color differences, because they are very subtle. Let me know which one you like best!
