During Holi and Easter we celebrated the start of spring and brought more color and warmth into our hearts and wardrobes. One thing I am not sure about is, if I still fit into my spring outfits after all of the delicious, festive meals from the past week! March was a very fashionable month with Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, Lakmé Fashion Week India and the 2nd edition of the India Fashion Summit.
On friday the 29th of March the India Fashion Summit took place in Delhi. Veteran designers and young talent were present to celebrate the Indian fashion industry and showcase their collections and brands. Immensely talented designer Rajdeep Ranawat opened the fashion show with his stunning ‘summer bride’ wedding collection. Also present on the runway were designer collections by Rosy Ahluwalia and Amit Talwar, displaying the latest summer trends. Another highlight of the evening was the IFFD (Indian Federation for Fashion Development) Awards show to acknowledge and praise talent and veterans from the fashion industry. The lifetime achievement award went to famous designer Rohit Bal, who was present to receive his award. The aim of the India Fashion Summit this year was to acknowledge and recognize the contributions of women in the Indian fashion industry. Which is why I would like to introduce the award winner for best footwear, the lovely Swati Mehrotra and her brand Swati Modo, to my readers.
Swati Mehrotra launched her Indian shoe label Swati Modo four years ago. Today her handmade shoes are available in several boutiques in India. Swati Modo is an urban, youthful, eccentric and super creative brand for men and women. Swati has come up with many interesting ways to bring her creations into the limelight. Her shoe designs for pets attracted the attention of many pet owners with a shoe addiction. Swati has also created comfortable shoes for kids suffering from Polio. This shows off her humanitarian side and her expertise in custom made shoe design, being able to design shoes for everyone’s needs.
Designing shoes is Swati Mehrotra’s passion, her aim is to produce creative and out-of-this-world shoe designs. She is inspired by the elements of our surroundings, life, travel and experiences. In the gallery you can view her artistic designs. One of my favorites are the colorful peacock sandals, perfect for a summer lunch or a boulevard stroll.
