London born fashion designer Manish Malhotra is best known for his costume designs for Indian cinema. Malhotra has designed gowns for a lot of famous faces in Bollywood like Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol and Madhuri Dixit. Although he has dressed many leading ladies in film, Malhotra has worked with actress Kareena Kapoor on many occasions. For her long awaited wedding to fellow actor Saif Ali Khan in 2012, Kareena wore several designs from the fashion guru.
His fashion runway shows during Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai are always one to look out for. His designs are daring, colorful and modern. He often uses eye popping neons or soft pastel colors to create a show stopping look. In an interview with Hindustani Times Malhotra said, he admirers designers like Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford and Oscar de la Renta. For his designs he often combines the traditional Indian look with a modern western twist, a perfect fusion of two worlds.
