I just got back from a lovely holiday in Valencia, Spain and want to share my list of summer holiday must-haves with you. I’ve lined up 5 of my favorite items/essentials:
Midi Skirts
During my visit to the arts and science centre in Valencia (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias) I wore one of my favorite fashion items for the summer; a midi skirt. Mid length skirts are very trendy and a wardrobe classic. I love this modest look, it is perfect to wear when you’re out sightseeing or dining at the beach or in town. I always combine a midi skirt with a crop top or t-shirt. Important is that you accentuate your waistline for this look to create a feminine hourglass shape. In the image below I am wearing a Midi Skirt in Check Print from ASOS Collection combined with a simple, white v-neck t-shirt from Esprit.
Bikini
I prefer to visit cities with a beach like Barcelona or Valencia, so I can both spend time relaxing in the sun and swimming in the sea and spend time shopping and visiting cultural hot spots. Before I go on holiday, I make sure I spend a little extra time in my Nike running shoes to get bikini body ready and splurge on a fancy bikini. Every woman aims to look her very best strutting her stuff on the beach whilst on holiday and I am no exception. This year I went for a floral print, halter neck bikini top from Triumph combined with black, tanga bottoms with string detail, also from Triumph. I highly recommend Triumph when it comes to bikinis and lingerie. Their items always fit perfectly, are of great quality and look fashionable!
A souvenir you can use as a fashion accessory
I love buying souvenirs when on holiday. It is fun to buy traditional items you can also use or wear on holiday as a fashion accessory, like a trendy straw beach hat, a cute embroidered bag or decorated fan. I bought this hand painted, traditional Valencia fan in red. A perfect item to fight the hot Spanish weather.
Wedge sandals or flip flops
Summertime footwear means bearing your feet and painting your toes in a bright color for the world to see. I bought my first pair of Havaiana flip flops this year, in a deep blue color. I have troublesome feet and always end up with blisters and cuts in the summer, but to my surprise I had no trouble when wearing my Havaianas, I highly recommend them! Another favorite footwear item for the summer are (platform) wedge sandals. I have a small collection of Tommy Hilfiger wedge sandals and aim to expand my collection this summer, they are extremely comfortable and cute!
Lip make-up
My tip for the summer when it comes to make-up; less is more! Who needs cake layers of make-up when it is 30 degrees Celsius or above, it will start melting off your face in no time. Keep your make up natural and light and add a little color to your lips to brighten up your face. Take your mascara and lip color with you and leave the foundation and eye shadow at home. Enjoy your natural beauty!
