Only a few nights left until it is Christmas Eve, the countdown begins! Finish your festive look with the perfect jewellery pieces. The holiday season is THE time you can go all out when it comes to glitter and glamour. Think (old) Hollywood glamour and go for pieces you could easily wear to the Oscars red carpet (…if you were invited). On Christmas day you might be rocking a bright lip color, a faux fur shrug and a fancy dress and will be looking like a million bucks. All your look needs is jewellery that stands out. You want people to gasp in awe, since you are the showstopper of the evening! Today I am sharing glamorous pieces from Sophie’s Closet to give you an idea of what to wear this Christmas – New Year’s Eve.
Tips and Tricks
Sparkle: Go for beautiful silver and gold pieces decorated with diamonds and crystals.
Color-coordinated: Wearing a fuchsia-pink dress (or a different color)? Add jewellery pieces decorated with stones in a similar color or a different color that matches perfectly.
Mix and Match: You don’t have to buy a matching set. Just find jewellery items that match. Don’t wear items with styles or colors that clash with your other items. You want it to look like a perfect whole!
Be bold…but do not leave your house looking like your Christmas tree.
Festive looks: Wear pearls with a 20’s flapper dress, long statement earrings with a low V-neck dress or an extravagant necklace with a little black dress, cocktail dress or a trendy jumpsuit.
Trivia
Samantha from Sex and the City bids on a bold flower ring decorated with diamonds during an auction in one of the SATC films. She loses the auction, but then receives the ring as a gift from her boyfriend Smith. Samantha is thrilled with her gift, but slightly disappointed…being the independent woman she is, with her successful career in PR, she actually wanted to treat herself by buying the ring with her own hard-earned money. At the end of the film she lovingly tells Smith, the ring will always remind her of him.
Either you receive jewellery as a gift from a loved one or treat yourself with a piece of jewellery, there is always a beautiful occasion and memory connected to these items, which is why I love jewellery and the stories behind the pieces. I was wondering, do you prefer buying your own jewellery like Samantha, or do you like to receive it as a gift, or both? …and what are the stories behind your favorite jewellery pieces?
I’ve added a few of my favorite festive pieces from Sophie’s Closet. Get inspired if you are looking to buy something for yourself or a loved one.
