Eid Mubarak, to those celebrating Eid today! To celebrate along with you, we will be featuring some beautiful brands from the Middle East this week. We start off with Emirati fashion label KhawlaWRoadha, a label by designer sisters Khawla and Roadha Bin Khedia. Although the sisters are new to the fashion scene, debuting their first collection ‘dolls’ in February 2013, they have already developed a loyal fanbase in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar and are here to stay.
The inspiration for their Ramadan collection came during a trip to Spain, where they developed a liking for the modern street styles. Their Ramadan collection combines modern street style with Arabic influences. The collection consist of t-shirts, sweat pants, skirts and dresses made from light cotton fabrics. A very sporty range of clothing that could as easily be combined with a pair of classy high heels as a pair of statement sneakers. This collection is perfect for those who like casual, sporty wear. It is a modern interpretation of Ramadan style.
I think this brand will attract a young hip crowd. There are some items from this collection that would appeal to those who love Rihanna’s style, but want to create a look that is a little bit more modest than hers. The crop tops with Arabic numbers would look great on a faded pair of boyfriend jeans. I personally love the sweat pants with the embroidered sides, I never thought sweat pants could look this chic! I also like the maxi-skirt combined with the neon pink shirt, it is a very feminine look, but quite sporty at the same time. The long length neon dresses are a comfortable option for the summer, the colorful embroidery on the ‘sleeves’ gives it a regal touch; Arabian princess meets hiphop royalty.
Designer duo KhawlaWRoadha have quite some talent and I am curious for their upcoming collections. Their young, fun and creative designs look very appealing to me.
