Last week Rami Kadi revealed his Fall-Winter 2013-14 haute couture collection named ‘Le Gala Des Mystères’. This collection tells the tale of a graceful beauty, who, on a starlit night, was invited to attend a lavish gala in a far away palace, only to find time had betrayed her and she was standing amidst the remains of a party, torn and tarnished by the years gone by…
This collection exists of 50 couture gowns; long-length evening dresses and dramatic ball gowns along with a few shorter, cocktail dresses. Luxurious fabrics take center stage including lace and silk, but also jersey, crepe/georgette, chiffon and tulle. Intricate hand embroidered details decorate the gowns including shimmery Swarovski embellishments and feathers. The color palette consists of deep emerald shades like ruby reds, deep blue en emerald greens, but also black, silver, white and gold. The overall feel of this collection is quite mysterious and dark. Some of the gowns have a very classic look, as if inspired by historic period costumes while others have baroque style elements. The figure hugging lace gowns resemble the contemporary designs from Elie Saab. It shows the potential of this talented and young designer. Kadi’s collection is very diverse and includes different styles, different time periods and surprisingly all of the gowns fit perfectly into one theme, no matter how different they are from one another. Each piece is more beautiful than the other. While going through the images I gasped several times with amazement. This collection is beyond stunning. I really adore the darker side to this collection, it has a punk edge to it and is slightly rebellious. On the other hand this collection is very regal, the fine details are exquisite, the ball gowns are graceful and dramatic.
These are the type of gowns I would like to see during awards season. When I switch on the television and Ryan Seacrest is talking to one of the female celebrities on the red carpet, I want to see her wear one of Rami’s gowns. Although I highly doubt there are any Hollywood A-list celebrities reading my blog right now, I do hope they take my advice. If I could, I’d have featured all fifty gowns from this collection…instead I have featured five of my favorite gowns.
