The Middle Eastern fashion industry includes designers from different cultural backgrounds. The fashion scene is culturally hybrid and designers produce different styles of clothing from traditional Abaya designs to contemporary looks. Every year the region’s most desired fashion designers gather during Fashion Forward Dubai. Designer brand Gisella Blu launched their spring summer 2014 collection during Fashion Forward Dubai last october. This brand is lead by head of design Sacha Plumbridge and home to a team of talented fashion professionals. GISELLAnoir is the name of their premium range of glamorous evening wear.

Gisella Blu Spring Summer 2014
The Gisella Blu collection is designed to accentuate the female form and to express femininity. Its intended to appeal to women who dare to be different. The spring-summer 2014 collection has a ‘nature’ theme to it. Different prints resemble forests and animal prints. Black and white geometric prints are also included. The color palette consists of icy blue colors resembling wild rivers and colors of the earth are combined with a touch of gold and pink. It is a very diverse collection including a lot of feminine skirt and blouse ensembles and flirty dresses made from high quality European fabrics. The overall look of this collection is feminine and flirty, but a few sophisticated looks are also included.
The Fashion Orientalist Favorites
One of my favorite pieces from this collection is a high-waisted skirt, the fabric really reminds me of the Indian, Benares fabric. The paisley style, teardrop pattern gives it an oriental touch. I really love the deep, blue color of the patterns. Another favorite is a dress that combines two different prints; a nature themed print and a geometric print in black/blue and white/beige. A very funky and sophisticated number. A top favorite from this collection is a skater dress with forest print. I adore the vibrant greens. The forest prints really stand out. The light, flowing fabrics and feminine silhouettes from this collection are very appealing. A lovely collection for next spring including a lot of different clothing items you can mix and match any way you like!
