Because I use makeup on a daily basis I spend a lot of time testing and sampling makeup products to make sure I buy items that last long and do not irritate my skin or cause skin breakouts. I’ve compiled a list of must have beauty products that includes a lot of products I use on a daily basis. The following ten products are highly recommended!
Chanel Les 4 Ombres – Eye shadow
I own a large collection of Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres eye shadow sets. The four colors complement one another, you can use them all in one look and combine them any way you like. Most colors contain a little sparkle or shine, those are perfect to wear on a special occasion. I use different shades of brown and peachy tones on a daily basis to create a natural look and highlight with light, shimmering colors. I also love to use shades of pink for special occasions.
MAC Cosmetics lipstick
I love the smell MAC lipsticks have! They smell like tic tac candy. You almost feel like taking a bite, it is that good. MAC Cosmetics just overwhelms you with their color options. I particularly love their nude colors and sweet pinks.
Chanel Le Vernis – Nail polish
True collector’s items. I love the fancy colors Chanel produces every season, they look a lot more impressive than most nail polish colors from other brands. Rouge noir is a must have color. It is dark, edgy and fashionable. A true classic!
Lancôme Art liner – Eyeliner
I am a clumsy person when it comes to applying makeup and it is a real nightmare to apply eyeliner. I think a liquid eyeliner not only looks best, but is easiest to apply. The art liner pen from Lancôme is my absolute favorite. No more poking myself in the eye with pencil liners or creating panda eyes with eyeliner gels. Now I smoothly apply liquid eyeliner by using the art liner. I can create perfectly thin lines in a matter of seconds. It lasts all day and does not flake off or smudge.
MAC Cosmetics – Eye shadow
The amount of colors to chose from is overwhelming. I love their matte colors, which are great for photo shoots. Their shimmery eye shadows are perfect for a night out. I am planning to buy a pro color palette that fits 15 colors, but I need some more time to decide on which colors I want.
Clinique Chubby Stick – Lip balm/color
Clinique’s Chubby Stick is a moisturizing lip color/balm that contains mango and shea butter to soften the lips. This product is a handbag must have. A perfect combination of a non sticky lip balm and lip color available in different, sweet colors. The crayon makes it easy to apply and fun to carry around. The crayon does not smell funny or super fruity like some lip products do. This is a collector’s item!
Clinique ‘take the day off’ makeup remover
Someone once told me the best way to remove makeup was to use makeup remover wipes. They are easy to carry around and to travel with. A perfect option for when you want to change makeup looks or quickly wipe off makeup. Wipes aren’t the best option to remove makeup in my opinion. I often feel I am wiping my makeup all over my face instead of actually removing anything. I discovered Clinique’s ‘take the day off’ makeup remover for lids, lashes and lips and haven’t used a different product ever since. Shake it, apply it on a cotton ball and wipe away makeup, followed by a quick rinse. A two-way formula that works wonders and removes every bit of makeup. It is slightly oily, so always wash your face with warm water afterwards. Another plus is that it does not make your skin feel dry. I’d recommend this product to anyone who uses makeup daily!
Chanel lipstick
A classic. Everyone should own at least one Chanel lipstick. I admit, whenever I pick up a Chanel lipstick and apply it I feel like a true lady. That classy black and gold case stamped with a Chanel logo oozes luxury. What I love about Chanel lipsticks is that they last long and have little to no scent. The colors are stunning. A red lipstick from Chanel is a must have.
Lancôme Hypnôse Star – Mascara
This mascara gives you full and long lashes. I went from average sized lashes to long, glamorous lashes, perfectly curled with intense volume. This really is the best mascara I’ve come across so far. It does not irritate my eyes, it comes off fairly easy and it does not flake (if applied correctly). I must say I was impressed and now use it on a daily basis.
OPI Nail Lacquer – Nail polish
What I love about this brand is that it has so many different colors to chose from and so many different styles; from glitter to metallic…from shiny to matte. The nail colors also have goofy names like ‘I’m not really a waitress’. OPI gives you a great amount of nail polish per bottle, it is a fairly big bottle compared to other brands (unless you buy the smaller ones). I plan to have an even larger collection of OPI colors in the near future (…if my wallet allows it.)
