Incredible !ndia, Amazing Thailand, Egypt ‘where it all begins’…tourism slogans, all I see and hear when turning on my television in January. It is that time of year when we play with the thought of leaving our familiar surroundings for a little while and want to discover the world…that time when you gather the kids and announce you are going on summer holiday to Greece or when you surprise your lover with a romantic trip to Italy. The travel catalogues are made available and people start booking their flights to tropical destinations. I just braved the storm and rain outside and must say, I am tempted to book an exotic holiday after seeing images of palm trees and white beaches on my television screen. I have yet to decide where I
am travelling this year, because I like to take off last minute, when I feel I’m most in need of a holiday. Raindrops are violently hitting my window as I am writing this and all I can think of is the spring summer season!
Rajdeep Ranawat Spring Summer 2015
Rajdeep Ranawat‘s spring summer 2015 collection ‘Sketches of the Orient’ is all about discovering the Orient. ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’, a painting by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, is the backdrop of the collection images in which the models are wearing tropical flowers in their hair and are holding up oriental fans. Ranawat is known for his oriental designs inspired by his travels and the beauty of nature. Those who want to stand out from the crowd when on holiday will love this extravagant collection. The exotic looks are made from light, flowing fabrics. Colors of the waves go hand in hand with different shades of pink and red. This collection includes different styles from printed tunics to contemporary lehenga (Indian skirt and blouse) ensembles and kaftan looks. Some fabrics are embroidered and decorated with (pearl) beads others are decorated with bold prints.
A true celebration of the Orient!
I’ve featured five of my favorite looks from this collection in the gallery. Let me know which one is your favorite!
