Brides-to-be and fashion enthusiasts are counting down the days to FDCI’s India Couture Week which kicks off on Wednesday 20th with a show by couturier Manish Malhotra. The crème de la crème of couture will be showcasing their bridal collections on the runway. THE moment for us to take note of the latest trends.
To warm you up for India Couture Week I have joined forces with Aparna from Cuckoo for Colour. She is an artist with a passion for fashion illustration, interpreting pieces from famous designers in her own creative way. Aparna has painted two beautiful fashion watercolors exclusively for The Fashion Orientalist. Both inspired by bridal couture designs from Sabyasachi and Shyamal & Bhumika.
Two stunning floral bridal gowns, one inspired by a Shyamal & Bhumika design perfect for a young, fashion forward bride. A lehenga in feminine, romantic shades.
The other look is inspired by a Sabyasachi design and suitable for a classic beauty; sophisticated, elegant and chic. Aparna created a romantic garden theme for both paintings to set the mood.
DidYouKnow – Aparna is also a budding fashion designer with her own label Earthen Weaves. Keep an eye out for an interview with this talented lady which will be published on the site soon!
Unfortunately both designer names are missing from the India Couture Week line-up, but that doesn’t mean they are on a hiatus. Sabyasachi is showcasing his couture collection on Instagram this week, a must see!
