The finale of day 3 Lakmé Fashion Week winter/festive 2014 is none other than noted designer Anita Dongre. Anita takes forward her passion to contemporize Indian crafts and textiles with her latest bridal couture festive 2014 collection ‘India Modern’.
“My inspiration for India Modern continues to be the vibrancy, heritage and old world luxury reminiscent of the Mughal era (Persianate empire 1526–1857).’’ Anita Dongre
This collection celebrates Rajasthani craftsmanship. Anita has decorated bridal lehengas with gotta patti embroidery details, Indian embroidery that originated in Rajasthan. Each style of this collection is a blend of the old and the new, contemporary silhouettes go hand in hand with traditional craftsmanship and embroidery styles. I am a big fan of Anita Dongre’s flowy bridal lehengas. Once again she has used bright and vivid colors for her collection: jewel tones like ruby reds, peacock blue, yellow, pink but also soft neutrals.
The keywords that come to mind while admiring this collection are: regal, chic, sophisticated, feminine, contemporary yet traditional and colorful. The lehenga pictured in the gallery is a real showstopper! A yellow crop top combined with a flowy red skirt. Every inch of this garment is embroidered. A beautiful look for a modern Indian bride. This is one of those outfits most women dream of wearing to their wedding day. I can’t wait to see the other looks from this collection later on today during Lakmé Fashion Week winter/festive 2014 day three!
