Lakmé Fashion Week summer/resort 2014 took place from the 11th of March until the 16th of March 2014 and showcased India’s hottest designers. A large variety of summer/resort collections hit the ramp last week, from traditional multi-colored sari’s and sexy, shimmery evening wear to creative east meets west designs.
I am sure some of you have already booked their resort, summer holidays and others are still deciding on where to go. So what better way to prepare for your summer wardrobe than to take some inspiration from the hottest looks that appeared on the Lakmé Fashion Week runway!
One of my favorite designs from Tarun Tahiliani is this white number. The idea of the scarf and belt detail reminds me of the Burberry Prorsum F/W 14-15 looks that were presented just recently during London Fashion Week. This look is very simple, looks very comfortable and the long scarf with bold prints is an eyecatcher.
This spring-summer it is all about clothes in different shades of blue. This design by KHEM is stunning. The top part of this ensemble looks very much like a modern version of a kimono. The deep v-neck gives it a sexy edge.
I really like the collection by Verb. This black and white design is a perfect example of east meets west. A lovely white gown with lace detail, a dupatta (scarf) draped around the neck and a contemporary style jacket with black details.
Niskha Lulla’s collection looks very comfortable. This design is almost like a comfy pair of pyjama’s. The blue color is very on trend, just like crop-top. I could see Rihanna rock an outfit like this, combined with some statement jewellery pieces.
The very talented Arpita Mehta is back with a collection including a few stunning mirror/thread-work designs. True crafmanship! I loved the canary yellow – orange and blue designs. The top part of this ensemble is true art! Bollywood starlet Karishma Kapoor also walked the ramp for Arpita.
Shyamal & Bhumika’s traditional Indian design is simply stunning. This daring choice of color reminds me of chocolate ice cream combined with pistachio or green mint. Intricate embroidery details!
This crop-top and pant ensemble from Payal Singhal looks very funky. I am a big fan of Singhal’s pant designs, they look very comfortable and I adore the bold prints.
Jade by Monica & Karishma designed this romantic look, perfect for a summer picnic. The thread/mirror-work looks intricate. I love the open back detail and pink skirt bottom.
Gaurav Gupta surprised us with a couple of sexy, space outfits. Out of this world looks with funky face jewellery. Time to party!
Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor walked the ramp for Rajesh Pratap Singh in a black jacket-style gown, decorated with silver flower print. A very creative look.
Kommal Sood’s disco number instantly caught my eye. Cute little sparkly dress, very nice for a summer night out clubbing with the ladies.
Anju Modi has been reaching headlines recently with her designs for the Bollywood film Ram-Leela. Her traditional Indian designs are beautiful. This pink sari with purple border is summer-tastic!
Neeta Lulla went for hot pink and beige designs with shimmery, silver details. These east meets west looks are made from light fabrics and look comfortable and easy to wear.
Gaurang went for multi-colored, traditional Indian looks. I adore the different layers in different popping colors, very vibrant! Also a real inspiration for your summer wardrobe colorwise.
Last but not least is Anushree Reddy’s design. I think a lot of young girls will love a look like this; a beautiful full skirt lehenga combined with a shimmery crop-top. Very Bollywood-princess like.
