Guess who´s back?! After its 10th edition, which took place in October 2017, Fashion Forward Dubai took a hiatus in 2018. We were excited to hear of its return this year!
Fashion Forward Dubai 2019 was held from the 30th of October until the 2nd of November at the Dubai Design District. Since its launch in 2013, the event has been a key fashion platform for both emerging and established designers from the Middle East. This edition it also welcomed global brands with special collections exclusive to this region.
This year the event differed slightly from its past seasons, adding a ‘buy it now’ element to the experience. Fashion Forward Dubai evolved into a ‘’shop-now’’ platform, showcasing collections directly available for purchase to a global audience of both buyers and consumers via a digital (and physical) presence after every runway show.
Crème de la crème
20+ designers from the region showcased their latest collections on the Fashion Forward Dubai catwalk. Even though we are always on the lookout for new designer talent to gush over, we can’t contain our excitement when seeing known names in the designer line-up. Designers like Ezra, Atelier Zuhra, Amato and Michael Cinco always put on an unforgettable show. This year Michael Cinco and Atelier Zuhra really stood out. Michael Cinco’s collection was inspired by the Russian ballet Swan Lake, a piece he had seen at the Bolshoi theatre in Moscow five years ago. This collection was a tribute to its beauty. Atelier Zuhra’s collection ‘’Once upon a dream’’ was inspired by the fantastical world of fairy tales and is based on fantasy, beauty, history and myths. Both designer collections included extravagant gowns in bold colours. Simply breath taking! We can’t wait to see which gowns will be appearing on the red carpet next year.
This season we’ve also spotted a lot of red, yellow and orange numbers. A very zesty colour scheme!
