Filipino born designer Furne One showcased his latest Amato Haute Couture collection during Fashion Forward Dubai season 3. The audience at Fashion Forward Dubai were left in awe of Furne One’s extravagant creations. Furne designs haute couture clothing for an exclusive clientele. He has dressed famous names like Beyonce, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. Which is no surprise. His artistic designs aren’t for the faint-hearted. Furne’s designs are fierce, daring, dramatic, artistic, eccentric, extravagant…pieces of modern art fit for a stage, art gallery exhibition or red-carpet.
His latest collection is best suited for an independent woman, a diva with the right amount of sex appeal. Furne was inspired by Alexander the Great for this collection. Alexander the Great was the king of the Greek kingdom of Macedon and is known as one of the most successful military commanders of all time. By the time Alexander reached the age of 30 he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world. His empire included conquests like Persia, India and Egypt. Furne One felt inspired by Alexander’s travels through Asia Minor and used the cultural influences from India, Persia and Egypt for his designs.
The models on the Fashion Forward Dubai runway wore large jewellery pieces; giant earrings, large Indian inspired head pieces, nose rings with chains and other face decorations. The collection includes long-length gowns, made from French lace and tulle, embellished with sequins, crystals and floral details. Figure hugging silhouettes, low v-necks and sheer fabrics give this collection a sexy twist. The models gathered on the runway in jewel colour tribes, looking like fierce couture warriors out to conquer the world of fashion.
I love the jewel colors, from ruby reds and deep blue’s to emerald green and bright yellow. This collection includes a few red-carpet showstoppers that tickle my fancy. I love the ruby red gowns! The embroidery details are intricate and breathtaking. My favourite is a gown in vibrant red with vein or branch-like details that decorate the dress.
