In 2012 Indian designer Rajdeep Ranawat amazed us with his Santorini themed, Spring Summer 2013 collection during Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) and in 2013 he is going to amaze us yet again. This year WIFW SS 2014 will take place from the 9th until the 13th of October and Ranawat will be showcasing his new designs on the 11th. The theme of his collection is ‘Rococo goes Tropical’. For those who are new to the ‘Rococo’ theme; it is an 18th century artistic movement which developed in Paris, France as a reaction against Baroque style. Rococo art has a playful, witty theme. The use of creamy, pastel-like colours, gold, asymmetrical designs and elegant, curving forms take center stage. Combine rococo art with tropical elements like tropical birds, vivid flowers and vibrant colors and you have an idea of Rajdeep’s new collection. Rajdeep Ranawat told us that this new collection is one of his favorite collections to date and we might just agree with him.
His SS 2014 lookbook includes a set of stunning images shot at breathtaking locations of Nubra Valley in Leh-Ladakh. Although this location provides a beautiful backdrop for the collection shoot, it is Rajdeep’s collection that instantly attracts our full attention. His wife Geetanjali Ranawat has provided the accessories for this shoot and adds a little sparkle to the outfits by using Swarovski elements.
The fashion designs are signature Rajdeep Ranawat looks; bold prints inspired by nature, feminine silhouettes and juicy colors. I will have to wait a little longer to judge the entire collection, but this preview is already making me excited for next summer! This collection is very modern, which makes it very appealing for an international audience. I love the sexy long dresses from this collection preview and the wide palazzo pants are hippy chic and a true must have. The combination of colors is once again superb! Both themes are clearly visible, which makes it a joy for both art and fashion lovers to review.
We can’t wait to see the full collection on the 11th during WIFW, in the mean time we can enjoy this beautiful preview!
