Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) – Spring/Summer 2015 took place from the 8th until the 12th of October 2014. The grand finale on the 12th showcased the SS15 collection by noted designer Rohit Bal. WIFW is known to save the best for last and once again lived up to my high expectations. Rohit Bal presented a beautiful collection named ‘Gulbagh’ (Garden of Flowers), inspired by the rich and lush Mughal Gardens of Kashmir.
The WIFW designers showed us that flowers are a key trend for the spring/summer season. From bold flower prints to floral cutouts, applique and embroidery. The designers have put nature’s beauty on display! Other trends are; light, flowing fabrics, bold prints and bright colors.
WIFW SS15 review
I have selected 10 of my favorite looks from WIFW SS15 for you to admire. I adore the decorated ‘just above the knee’ skirts by Niket Mishra and Hemant & Nandita. Bold and playful prints appeared on the runways of Pankaj & Nidhi and Payal Pratap. The latter went for a boho chic look, which would look fabulous on someone like Vanessa Hudgens or the Olsen twins. The collection of Gauri & Nainika includes long, white gowns with colorful floral details. Simplicity meets intricacy! Tarun Tahiliani went for bright colors and resort-ready outfits. This layered outfit really stood out. Kavita Bhartia skillfully merged contemporary with traditional Indian style. While Dev r Nil combined blue and white with eye-popping prints. Very funky! Sneha Arora showcased a few beautiful items perfect for a ‘formal’ SS15 work wardrobe. A chic and sassy alternative to a plain, black blazer/skirt or pant ensemble.
These are just a few of my favorites. Come back soon to see more favorite looks from WIFW SS15 on The Fashion Orientalist!
