The Indian Federation for Fashion Development, fashion platform and organizer of fashion events like India Runway Week, has released a high end fashion calendar for the year 2015. This calendar includes fashion designs by 12 talented fashion designers from India. Photographer Kunaal Bose worked together on this with stylist and creative director Rishi Raj. The pictures were shot at a building site in India which symbolizes growth and refers to a growing Indian fashion industry. In the photographs, the models pose in front of buildings (in construction) and piles of sand, stand in places only construction workers are allowed to enter and strike a pose in front of construction trucks. Fashion and (digital) art go hand in hand. The photographs are very dynamic and were edited to create different dimensions and illusions. The digital artist put a spotlight on the models by making the backgrounds darker and the models lighter, which attracts the attention towards the designer clothing and away from the construction site. The photographs were edited in such a way that it looks surrealistic. It takes a moment to realize the models are not on a different planet but actually somewhere on the outskirts of an Indian city.
Designers featured in the IFFD calendar are: Soltee by Sulakshna Monga, Rajdeep Ranawat, Raakesh Agarvwal, Manish Gupta, Niharika Pandey, Geisha Designs by Paras & Shalini, AUM by Nishu J, Lhusano Zakiesato, Virtues by Ashish Viral & Vikrant, Liz Paul by Satya & Liz, Dolly J, Mayyur Girotra and jewellery design by Shubhashini Ornamentals – Akassh K Aggarwal.
The IFFD directors wanted to create something special with this limited edition calendar. It is not just another fashion calendar. IFFD has created an artistic product and I admire them for their creativity. They have found a way to stand out from the crowd. Some images are more powerful than others, which is why I have selected 4 of my favorite fashion photographs from this calendar. My top favorites include a picture in which a model poses in front of a yellow construction truck and a picture in which a model stands inside of a bright blue room. I like the play of colors in these pictures and the fashion looks. To view the entire calendar visit: iffdcalendar.com
