The Spring Summer 2020 edition of Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week (LMIFW) took place from October 9 to 12, 2019 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, India Gate, New Delhi. During the event, organized by the Fashion Design Council of India, almost 100 designers showcased their collections on the runway and through stalls. #MyFashionTribe was the theme of this season: seeing the fashion world as an extended family.
“We have an interesting line-up with a mix of old-world ideologies intermingled with a millennial vibe. This selection will paint the runway in hues of diversity with artisanal expertise.”

More is more
The Spring, Summer season of 2020 is all about the freedom of self-expression. “2020 will be about more-is-more!” shared designer duo Falguni Shane Peacock during the fashion event. Their SS20 collection celebrates voyeurism in its truest form and stimulates the notion of individualistic dressing, shedding away societal inhibitions. Several designers followed a similar theme. This years runway was bolder than ever! The grand finale saw presentations by four leading designers; Anamika Khanna, Manish Arora, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Wendell Rodricks. 4 designers who dress women with different mindsets. It helps us understand that style is about finding your true self and the best way to express it is through fashion. Beauty is diverse, as is fashion.
I was thrilled to see Manish Arora in this seasons designer line-up, his shows are a real treat. He always takes us on a psychedelic adventure; contemporary, kitch, bold & colourful. A feast for the eyes!
Spring summer trends
The bolder the better. Spring Summer 2020 sees recurring trends like light and silky fabrics, bold prints, floral motifs and soft pastels. This year blue and mint green shades are taking the spotlight, but we also see more vibrant colors. The Mix & Match trend is also hot, and don’t be afraid to stand out by opting for daring color combinations or working with layers. As said before, more is more!
Personal top picks from this season’s LMIFW include collections by Samant Chauhan, Falguni Shane Peacock, Anamika Khanna and Megha Jain Madan. Megha’s collection Abstract combined stunning pastel shades like pink, mint green and purple with delicate floral embroidery. It gave me romantic vibes. Samant Chauhan’s collection was the night to Megha’s day. Spring nights and melancholy. Chauhan presented black gowns with white embroidery and a hint of color. I personally feel this is one of his best collections!
