On the 30th of June 2019 Oriental Fashion Show (OFS) celebrated its 30th edition at the Ritz hotel in Paris, France. OFS is THE leading fashion platform dedicated to showcasing contemporary high-end fashion designers originating from Central Asia, the Near East and Far East. Since launching in 2004, OFS has presented the collections of over 100 designers from more than 50 nationalities in locations such as Paris, Marrakech, Istanbul, Baku and Abu Dhabi.
This year, on the 13th of September 2019 to be precise, OFS organized its first fashion event in London, at the Bulgari Hotel, Knightsbridge. The event coincided with London Fashion Week.
OFS is the brainchild of Hind Joudar, who has been leading this event for the past 15 years. I praise her for introducing Western audiences to the beauty of Oriental fashion. The designs showcased on the OFS ramp tell us stories of different cultures, rich heritage and traditional craftsmanship. A feast for the eyes!
The shows in Paris and London featured both contemporary looks as traditional pieces, from glamorous evening gowns to extravagant kaftans beautifully adorned with intricate hand-stitched embroidery, stones and jewels. OFS celebrated diversity like no other, the models chosen to walk the runway come from different cultural backgrounds and gave an extra dimension to the designs.
