The 11th edition of Pakistan Fashion Week London took place on the 20th & 21st of May at Lancaster House. This neo-classical style mansion near St. James’s Palace was once part of the palace complex and is often used in cinema as a stand-in for Buckingham Palace (e.g. The Young Victoria and The King’s Speech). Quite the backdrop for a fashion show!
Over 40 designers of Pakistani origin gathered at the venue to showcase their latest collections and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence. Fashion is one of the country’s leading export industries and events like Pakistan Fashion Week London, which features known fashion designers & models of that industry: ”serves to challenge the West’s perceptions of Pakistan and increases the trading links between the two nations”
The gallery features my personal favourite designs from the runway shows. These stunning images were shot by photographer Shahid Malik. A royal affair!
