The 71st annual Cannes Film Festival 2018 is currently being held (from 8 to 19 May) in Cannes, France. The festival previews new films of all genres from all around the world. One of the highlights of the event is its awards ceremony, during which the Palme d’Or is given to the best film.
One would say this festival is all about film, but the Cannes red carpet is all about fashion. Every day photo journalists line-up to see who is wearing what. Brands like Chopard and L’Oréal Paris are official partners of the festival. Every year a number of L’Oréal ambassadors travel to Cannes to represent the brand. They always look the part wearing the finest couture pieces. It’s a real fashion spectacle!
Indian representative Sonam Kapoor looked amazing this year in Vera Wang and Ralph & Russo while classic beauty and L’Oréal legend Aishwarya Rai stole the show in a butterfly number by Michael Cinco and a glitter gown by Rami Kadi.
From Bollywood to Lollywood. Actress Mahira Khan, L’Oréal Paris Pakistan Hair Care Spokesperson, travelled to Cannes this year to represent the brand. It was a historic moment as she is the first Pakistani spokeswoman to represent the brand at Cannes. The highlight of Mahira’s trip was when she joined other leading ladies of L’Oréal Paris on the red carpet for the premiere of BlacKkKlansman, a film by Spike Lee. Mahira wore a black gown by Alberta Ferretti paired with Chopard jewels. A picture of her sharing a hug with colleague Sonam Kapoor went viral.
During Mahira’s action packed, three day trip in Cannes she was introduced to the L’Oréal Paris global makeup and hair styling team of Stephane Lancien. She also attended photo calls at the iconic Martinez Beach in Cannes as well as official beauty portraits by renowned French photographer Flavien Prioreau.
She was also part of ”The Worth It Show” by L’Oreal Paris. The show broadcasts live from Martinez Beach and hosts the most iconic brand ambassador’s actresses but also renowned personalities to honour and give voice to women from the cinema industry. The show celebrates women’s empowerment!
